About this Artist

Amigos Poderosos is the solo project of José Olivares, a Dominican-Venezuelan musician, producer, and visual artist raised in Puerto Rico and based in Brooklyn. Blending lo-fi house, dembow, acid, and IDM, Amigos Poderosos crafts hypnotic, rhythm-driven soundscapes that merge Caribbean grooves with experimental electronic textures. Olivares has performed at major stages and festivals, including NPR’s Tiny Desk, SXSW, Big Ears Festival, and Hermoso Ruido. In addition to his solo work, he is a founding member and main producer of the acclaimed dreambow band Balún and has produced for Lido Pimienta, including contributions to her forthcoming album alongside a roster of celebrated international producers. Drawing on diasporic identity, Caribbean traditions, and electronic innovation, Amigos Poderosos is a forward-thinking project where rhythm, texture, and experimentation converge.
