About this Performance

Celebrated for making opera accessible and entertaining, Pacific Opera Project returns to The Ford for Rossini’s charming take on the Cinderella story, La Cenerentola, on Friday, August 27. In this version of the fairytale, the wicked stepmother is a stepfather, Don Magnifico (E. Scott Levin), and Cenerentola (Stephanie Doche) is forced to serve as the maid in her own home. In search of a bride, Prince Ramiro (Arnold Livingston Geis) disguises his tutor as a beggar, to whom Cenerentola shows kindness, proving her good heartedness. After refusing to fall for the wiles of Cenerentola’s stepsisters and stepfather, Ramiro wins her heart with a matching bracelet. POP’s Founding Artistic Director, Josh Shaw, designs and directs this rollicking Rossini classic, which will be sung in Italian with English subtitles and feature a 25-piece orchestra led by Kristin Roach.

Produced in partnership with Pacific Opera Project: LA's home for accessible, affordable, and ENTERTAINING opera.
